Maryland State Government
The
Maryland State Department of Budget and Management, Office
of Personnel Services and Benefits (OPSB) is the centralized
recruiting and testing division for the state. Located in
Baltimore, OPSB is responsible for filling about 40,000 government
positions across the state.
OPSB's
main focus is the recruitment, development and retention of
a work force for Maryland State Government. The office's recruitment
and examination division assists state agencies in developing
and establishing a pool of qualified applicants for open positions.
It provides a variety of services that range from recruitment
to examination to selection of candidates. Besides the recruitment
and examination division, OPSB also addresses salary administration
and classification, employee development and training, employee
relations, employee benefits and medical services. The office
shares responsibility with state agencies for the administration
of personnel functions through policy, development, guidance
and interpretation.
Maryland
is a great place to live and work. The state provides a diversity
of scenery, including mountains and beaches. Arts and culture
are also an important part of Maryland. The state features
symphony orchestras, professional theatre and world-renowned
art galleries, as well as small choral groups, community theatre
and local art exhibits.
Living
in Maryland means having access to history. The state is home
to Fort McHenry, the birthplace of America's national anthem.
It also lays claim to many athletic offerings, including the
Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. One of the state's
major events is the Preakness, which is the second leg of
horse racing's Triple Crown. With so many things to do - from
skiing to sailing to wilderness hiking - Maryland has something
for everyone.
